Chapter 9

The Pressing

Five years later

“Tell me you love me.”

Hazy eyed she stared into his. For a brief moment she lost touch with reality. She felt crazy. But it wasn’t the normal crazy. It was the kind of crazy that comes from loving someone so deeply that insanity is the only way to describe it. Staring into his eyes did that to her. Being in his presence did that to her. Thinking of him did that to her. Biting her lip she gazed from his shoulder length dreads to the square lining of his Nutella colored face, to his thin but kissable lips. His 6’4 frame towered her and filled her with fear and security all at once as his strong hand clasped her face; bringing her back to that moment. Grabbing his muscular chest she spoke…

“I love you Hunter.”

Came her whispered reply. He smiled down at her; smiled that smile that caused goose bumps to appear atop her skin. Every time. His beauty was peculiar to her. The moment she stepped into his office two years earlier to interview for a position at his marketing firm her heart literally skipped a beat. She adored this man, and she believed he adored her too.

“How much do you love me Monroe?”

Blushing she kissed the palm of his hand and lowered her head as his hand traced her spine. Shrugging she let her deep brown eyes find his green ones, wondering whose color their first born would inherit.

“Monroe…”

Gently he squeezed her by her waist, his smooth low tone commanding her attention.

“Enough to take this jump with you.”

Softly he pecked her lips and gripped her hand.

“That’s my girl.”

Inhaling once more she closed her eyes as the instructor counted to three. Before she knew it she was falling out of the airplane, screaming in fear turned excitement. Holding his hand tighter she looked at Hunter and smiled. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for or with this man.

“I love you.”

She murmured as his hand tightened around her foot. After kissing her foot he smiled up at her. Leaning forward she caressed his shoulder before tugging him up from her feet.

“I thought you were enjoying your foot massage?”

He asked as his body covered hers.

“I was…I just want you closer.”

His goatee nuzzled itself between her chin and throat and she giggled.

“Why don’t you ever tell me you love me Hunter?”

For a moment his usual unreadable face reeked of confusion but quickly he regained himself as he lifted her leg and wrapped it around his waist. As he applied more of his weight onto her she felt air catch inside her lungs. Gently grabbing a handful of her natural curly mini afro she wondered how anyone could have such an effect on her body. Biting her full lips she looked at him with pure infatuation.

“Why should I? Don’t my actions show it?”

He finally replied, but almost on deaf ears. The closer he got the lighter her head seemed and oblivious she became.

“I said…don’t my actions show it?”

He repeated, quivering lips replied…

“What?”

He chuckled and kissed her neck.
